In a world of precarity, writing is a value and a form of power, found in the ongoing work of making room for it. Open to academic and creative writers.

Room to Write has grown out of conversations with writers who, like me (Farah Nazir), want to remain committed to their writing while navigating precarity across academic and cultural spaces.

For writers who are already marginalised, precarity is often intensified by structural inequalities across academic and cultural spaces, shaping access to time, resources, recognition, and support.

Writing takes place in uneven conditions

Room to Write recognises uneven conditions and offers a shared space where writing can be approached with care and seriousness, while respecting different working rhythms and intentions. Sessions are focused on quiet, independent writing rather than workshops or group critique.
